Taking Proper Precautions — Maintaining the security of your own personal computer is an important part of protecting your own privacy. You should use and update regularly your antivirus software, firewall and your operating system to prevent unauthorized access by others and harm from various forms of viruses. You should always be sure who you are dealing with before responding with personal information. To avoid all these and other forms of attacks, we encourage you to visit the CERT® website at http://www.cert.org/tech_tips/home_networks.html for updates and tips on protecting yourself.
Personal Information — We use a password protected directory on the server to control access to our members-only information. The username and password may be changed without notice and all current members of the chapter who have provided an email address to the Barbershop Harmony Society will receive notification of these changes when they occur. We cannot guarantee that our security measures will prevent unauthorized access.
Spam
In an effort to hamper the effectiveness of the robot "sniffers" that spammers use to mine email addresses from websites all of the publicly-accessible email addresses on our website are built using scripts and are not listed "in the clear".
Rights of our Members
Our members have the right to request that their legal privacy rights be protected and may ask that their information be removed from the chapter roster located in the members-only area. All members are advised that this request only pertains to this website and does not affect the membership listing found in the members-only area of the Barbership Harmony Society's website.
